Matching Stone to the Job
For driveways, start with QP (quarry process) as your base. It compacts hard and stays put. Top with 3/4 clean gravel for drainage and a clean finish.
For drainage work like French drains and foundation perimeters, use 3/4 clean gravel. It has no fines, so water moves through it instead of pooling.
For beds, borders, and dry creek designs, decorative river rock and Delaware River blend give a smooth, natural look in sizes from 3/8 inch up to 2.5 inch premium. Pea gravel suits walkways, patios, and play areas underfoot.
Yard or Ton?
We sell most gravel by the cubic yard and river stone blends by the ton. One cubic yard of gravel weighs roughly 1.4 tons and covers about 100 square feet at 3 inches deep. Tell us your square footage and depth at (973) 347-3117 and we will convert it for you.
Delivery
Stone and gravel deliver seven days a week from our Stanhope yard across Morris, Sussex, Warren, and Hunterdon Counties, with larger orders reaching Somerset, Essex, Passaic, and Bergen Counties.
Gravel starts at $42.00 per cubic yard plus delivery by town. Decorative river rock is priced per ton starting at $72.00.
3/4 inch clean gravel. It is washed and has no fines, so it will not clog the pipe. See our French drain gravel guide for depths and quantities.
Quarry process, a mix of 3/4 stone down to stone dust that compacts into a hard base for driveways, patios, and sheds.
Yes. A common look is 3/4 river rock as the field with 2.5 inch premium blend as accents along borders.
